Itinerary 4 walking tour and by tramcar – The new skyscrapers and the fashion district
The new skyscrapers in Milan are located at Porta Nuova district. The project was approved in 2004, comprising a total surface of about 290,000 m2 (3,155,882 sq ft) divided into 3 parts:
- Porta Nuova Garibaldi
- Porta Nuova Varesine
- Porta Nuova Isola
The area is going to be home to 20 high-rise buildings (including apartaments, shops and offices), a new metro station purple line 5 of the Milan Metro and many underground car parks and it will be surrounded by a large green park within 2017.
The Fashion District is in the historical heart of the city and it is composed by streets where there are jewelry shops, boutiques and showrooms of Italian and international brands. This area is regarded as one of the most or even the most important fashion district in the world by numerous experts in the fashion industry
